5 Key Takeaways From the DOMINATE Entrepreneurial Summit

Blog pull through

Marketer on the Run CEO, Remso Martinez, joined the DOMINATE Entrepreneurial Summit’s panel on PR, branding and marketing with fellow entrepreneurs Jeremy Knauff and Trish Leto.

Here are 5 key takeaways from these awesome business leaders.

1. Be Yourself.

Be authentic. Don’t be afraid to show who you are. Jeremy Knauff says, “your story differentiates you from your competitors.” Your personality will attract the right people and repel the wrong people. Still prove you can get the job done but don’t be afraid to be your authentic self.

2. Don’t Use AI to “Fake it Until You Make it”

Don’t use AI to write PR pitches, the journalists will make fun of you and you may end up on a blacklist. Don’t have AI write a blog for your website without verifying all the information you’re publishing is correct. If you’re supposed to be an expert in something but get lazy and publish something factually incorrect using AI, you’re going to lose your credibility. Trish Leto describes AI as a way to accentuate your business, not replace your business. She says it’s like a woman wearing makeup: it’s meant to help you highlight the great qualities of your business, not replace or create something that isn’t already there. Remso Martinez also brings up that one day you’ll have to meet people face to face and be your authentic self, so if you’re using AI to fake it until you make it, you’re not going to succeed.

3. Use AI as a “Trusted Intern at Most, it’s Not Your Doctor”

There are some ways AI can and should be used to help you more effectively run your business. Jeremy Knauff suggests using AI as a helpful assistant for menial and mundane tasks. Trish Leto brings up how AI-powered social media recommendations can help your content perform better. For example, when Facebook recommends certain music to add to your post, the platform is trying to help your content perform better in its algorithm. Remso Martinez talks about how people are getting burned from AI. They rush to use it before taking the time to learn how to master it and harness its power. Remso suggests treating it as “a trusted intern at most,” and warns if you don’t learn how to use it, you will be left behind.

4. You’re Not Going to Become an Influencer Overnight

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. It requires consistency and authenticity. You can’t please everyone, so be yourself and you’ll naturally attract the right audience. You don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be your clients’ favorite person.

5. Be Adaptable

Technology is always evolving, adapt so you don’t get left behind. Remso Martinez shares when his clients replaced his copywriting with ChatGPT. He had to adapt and learn other skills like short form video in order to pay the bills. He also learned how to use ChatGPT and other AI tools to expand his skillset. Eventually his clients came back and begged him to return because Chat’s copywriting was awful. He was able to get his clients back and charge more because he had expanded his skills.
